Please join us for our 2022 annual gala. This year Kevin and Janice Tighe from Tighe's Bistro Américain will be hosting us. The structure housing Tighe's Bistro Américain was built as "Mechanics Hall" circa 1845 to house workers at the Rensselaer Glass Works. After the glass works closed for good in 1853, the building became a hotel and has served as such and/or as bar and restaurant almost continually for most of the past 165+ years.
Our featured presenter this year is Len Tantillo. Mr Tantillo's work has appeared internationally in exhibitions, publications and film documentaries. He is the author of four books, and the recipient of two honorary degrees. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Marine Artists. His work is included in the collections of the Fenimore Art Museum, the Minnesota Museum of Marine Art, numerous historical societies, and corporate and private collections in the USA and abroad.
In 2004 he was commissioned by the Metropolitan Museum of Art to create a painting depicting the Daniel Winne house as it may have appeared in 1725. He has produced over 300 paintings and drawings of New York State history. In 2016 he was elected a Fellow of the New York Academy of History.
The SLHS will offer a signed and framed print of Mr Tantillo's for auction. There will be multiple auction and raffle items to bid on. Local businesses who wish to participate can contact Holli Boyd-White at [email protected] or call/text 518.281.4398.
Food will consist of Quiches, finger foods, cheese and fruit platters. Cash bar.
There are two ticket levels - members and nonmembers. Nonmember ticket prices will include a one-year membership.
We are also offering a sponsorship ticket level, which includes two tickets and two one-year memberships or a one-year family membership as appropriate.
