The Board of Trustees of The Sand Lake Historical Society is pleased to invite you to our 2019 Fundraiser – Lobster Bake and Dance on Crystal Lake. We also invite you to join the Honorary Committee for the event, to be held at historic Crystal Cove in Averill Park on Friday, June 7, at 6:00 p.m.
Crystal Cove has been in the same family since 1896. A display will recall the days of the Carousel and other rides, the Dance Hall, and notable visitors to this historic local landmark.
The Lobster Bake (with a steak option) will be served with homemade strawberry shortcake for dessert. Enjoy live music by the T.L. Holloway Band, dancing, a cash bar, silent auction of birdhouses decorated by local artists, raffles, and more.
The Sand Lake Historical Society, now in our 45th year, is chartered to promote appreciation and preservation of the history and culture of the Town of Sand Lake through educational programs, publications, marking places of historic interest, and preserving historic artifacts, sites and structures.
The Society offers free public programs the second Tuesday of each month from September to June. Our quarterly newsletter, Historical Highlights, features histories of people, places and events in and around Sand Lake. Each year, the Society provides cash memorial awards to two Averill Park High School seniors. Our newest historical marker commemorates the centennial of Methodist Farm. Tours, publications, and more promote and highlight the history and culture of the Town of Sand Lake for all ages.
